I am a mom of three grown sons, an avid cook, and someone who is happiest outdoors. The Foraged Jar is where all of that comes together.
This is how I ended up in the fields and pastures, buckets in hand, looking for nature’s little surprises.
Cooking has always made me curious about ingredients. The more I cook, the more I want ingredients that taste like something. That curiosity took me out of the grocery store and into the fields and pastures.
I believe the wild fruits and plants out there offer nutrients you simply cannot find on a grocery store shelf. I love the hunt for those natural treasures, and I never know exactly what I will come home with. That is the best part, and it is where the name comes from: nature’s little surprises.
I believe the soul finds its center in the forest.Cecilia
When I am surrounded by nature, everything quiets down. Walking through the woods, along a fence line, or across a pasture, I feel like myself.
That is why I wanted this business to start outdoors. Before anything goes in a jar, it begins with a walk, a bucket, and something wild that is ready to pick.
This is my favorite part. Whatever we gather goes into the kitchen, where I do what I love most. I want every jar to taste like where it came from.
Fruit is gathered when it is ripe.
Small kettles and short ingredient lists.
Every jar is closed by hand before it ships.
Whether you are family, a friend, or someone who just found us, I hope a jar brings a little of the outdoors to your table.
